The successful community fund recipients demonstrated strong alignment with the funding body's goals and objectives, clear and impactful outcomes, and effective implementation plans. Sligo Credit Union's Community Fund is divided into several different categories, including:
- Green Initiative
- Arts & Culture
- Education
- Health & Wellbeing
- Events
Here are some examples of successful Community Fund recipients from May, showcasing a variety of categories:
- Green Initiative / Education / Health & Wellbeing: Scoil Ursula is undertaking a school garden renovation, which will help facilitate movement breaks, to serve as a resource for those with sensory needs and to promote awareness of the integral nature of the environment.
- Health & Wellbeing: Maugheraboy Estate Residents Association is developing a Community Day in the estate aimed at fostering social reconnection and inclusion among the estate residents; something which has been challenged since the Covid-19 pandemic. Investing in this project builds a stronger, more resilient, and inclusive community for the future.
- Arts & Culture / Health & Wellbeing: The Sligo Town Women's Shed supports women in the community, particularly those who are socially or physically isolated. The Sligo Town Women's Shed also fosters social and personal development through various activities and requires funding to buy equipment for various equipment.
Our Community Fund budget for 2024 is €30,000, and there is one other opportunity this year for your organisation to apply in August.
