January Community Fund Recipients
We are delighted to say that ten community organisations have succeeded in our 1st round of Community Funding this year.
- North Sligo Playground Group. Description: To build a sensory garden close to the playground area; to improve the biodiversity of the park. To host a day of workshops with the local primary school.
- Sligo Rotary Club. Description: To organise a military brass band concert with the Irish Defence Forces. Proceeds will go to local charity groups, e.g., North West Hospice.
- Irish Wheelchair Association (Sligo Town). Description: To undertake a gardening project where their members can participate in creating a garden.
- Stoma Support Group. Description: They are planning a memorial service for all those who have passed away.
- West Sligo Singers. Description: To hold singing workshops between Feb and June 2025.
- Wild Atlantic Shanty Festival. Description: To buy a marquee to use as a dry indoor space for their Shanty Festival, 20th - 22nd June.
- Medbs Dragon Warriors. Description: To host an event in May.
- Friendship Club (Drumkeerin). Description: To celebrate their 25th anniversary with an event.
- Coolaney United. Description: To buy new kits (jerseys) for the team with Sligo Credit Union's logo.
- Diversity Sligo. Description: To organise three events to empower migrant parents in the area of learning how to support and nurture their children in the Irish community.
The successful community fund recipients demonstrated strong alignment with the funding body's goals and objectives, clear and impactful outcomes, and effective implementation plans. Sligo Credit Union's Community Fund is divided into several different categories, including:
- Green Initiative
- Arts & Culture
- Education
- Health & Wellbeing
- Events
