Credit Controller Role
Sligo Credit Union is currently recruiting for the role of Credit Controller. This is a full-time 1-year fixed-term contract and is based in our Sligo branch with infrequent travel to other branches.
The Credit Controller reports to the Head of Lending and is responsible for the progressive implementation and management of our credit union’s credit policy and procedures, ensuring the provision of an efficient service to our very valued members within the authorised limits while minimising the number of accounts in arrears. This role will aid the monitoring of members accounts to ensure the effective collection of outstanding debts.
The role requires the successful candidate to have a professional manner and work effectively to ensure our members in arrears are supported along with financial losses to the credit union being minimised. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit control along with excellent communication skills.
Skills and competency requirements:
- The successful candidate must be APA in loans qualified. A credit control-related qualification is an advantage. The credit union will provide financial support for the successful candidate to obtain full QFA qualification if they do not have it currently.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Friendly and approachable, believing in teamwork and collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills as well as strong IT skills.
- Some proven experience in a credit control function or a similar role within a financial industry, credit union or office administration environment, is an advantage, inclusive of a strong understanding of credit risk management principles.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as an individual and within a team optimally.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- The successful candidate will be required to satisfy the minimum competency requirements as set out in the Central Bank Guidelines.
- Member focused and aligned with the ethos and values of the credit union.
